Christmas 2009

It was a real good one this year. Not that we don’t always have a good Christmas, but this year was slightly different.

I was picked up from home by Sarah and Mark on the Tuesday evening to spend from then until after Christmas with them.

Sarah and Mark whet away to Rye on the Wednesday to stay overnight in the haunted room of the famous Mermaid Inn. They were treated like royalty but for £200 per night I would think they would be. The girls and I made our own entertainment for that evening.

It was Marks Birthday on the Thursday, (Christmas Eve), and when they returned all of us gathered around my Sister Barbara’s with the rest of the family for that evening, so it was a sort of Christmas gathering for us all as well as a Birthday party for Mark. It’s always great fun when we all get together. Some of our very old family photos were got out during the evening for my girls and Mark to look at. Mark has never seen them before but my girls love looking at them, and often ask for them to be brought out when we visit.

It was also nice as Gary (nephew) was there as well. Often he has disappeared to London for holidays.

Mark’s parents came over early Christmas morning to stay over night into Boxing Day and they must have enjoyed themselves as they didn’t leave until Boxing Day evening. Me thinks Mark must have mentioned to his Mum, Sheila, just how much I love my chocolate as she and Hubby, Tony gave me a very large selection as a pressie. That should last me a fortnight once I get back home.

Mark’s youngest son Jamie also came over about midday Boxing day and stayed over that night. Beverley (Niece) and family and also my eldest Sister, Barbara popped in for a little visit as well that day. All the too’ing and fro’ing made for a fun Christmas.

Because of Boxing Day falling on a weekend day, this Christmas has been lovely and long, not really finishing until Monday evening which was a bank holiday in lieu of BD being on Saturday.

Sunday was a trip to Southampton for a look around at the sales and for me to buy my new MacBook pro. I have never had a Mac so I have now have a lot to learn, but Jamie is still staying on and off at Mark and Sarah’s so he is showing me the ropes. I do have my Idiots Guide to Snow Leopard at home though and I will study up on that when I finally go home.

I was going to originally going to go back home today, Tuesday, but have decided to stay now until Saturday. I have decided to stay longer for 2 reasons. One, because on Thursday Sarah is back at work and she has a new dishwasher being delivered so I will be seeing it in, and two, we have all arranged, along with Jamie, to go see “Meet the Morgans” at the cinema on Friday. No point in my going home and keep coming back again.

So, to conclude, it’s been a great Christmas this year.
