Christmas Lunch With the Ladies

imageI was very kindly invited to join 5 other ladies for a Christmas lunch in a Local Tearoom this Sunday just gone. I thought this was jolly nice of them as I have only lived here for about 6 weeks and no one really knows much about me.

We all met down in the lobby at midday ready for the short walk to the top of the road to sit down for lunch at 12.30.

They had laid out our table beautifully, including crackers, favours and party blowers. As well as the linen and napkins designed for Christmas. The food was cooked and served perfectly, although as I like my vegetables cooked really well, the sprouts were a little under done for me, but a chef would have said they were perfect.

There were 4 courses and each presented as a 5 star hotel would have done. Considering it’s only a small local establishment they did very well.

I had Melon to start with which was also served with a creatively designed strawberry, kiwi fruit and some other foreign tiny fruit that I didn’t recognise.

Because we had gone out especially for a Christmas lunch I stuck with the traditional Christmas dinner with Christmas pudding and custard after. Then rather than finish with cheese and biscuits I opted for a hot mince pie.

Although I had already met all of the ladies over the weeks that I have been here, I am embarrassed to say that I had, and have, totally forgotten one of the ladies names. I sat there wracking my brains to remember. Shame on me.

The company was good and the conversation never faltered which made it a very comfortable meal for me. It could just have easily been a disaster, from my point of view, being that I didn’t know any of them hardly at all.

All in all, I am really pleased I accepted the invitation.

Hi Pearl and a warm welcome to my blog. I moved into this retirement appartment in the last week of October so am still getting to know everyone.

I was really worried about moving into something so small but the area I am in and the fact that there is a social life here for me, if I want it, more than makes up for squeezing myself into a box. So far I am loving it.
